About Jocelyn

Hailed as "totally charming and captivating" (Cape Cod Times), Jocelyn is an emerging young soprano who is at home both in the realms of opera and musical theatre. Jocelyn has performed extensively in crossover repertoire, previous roles including Adele (Die Fledermaus), Liesl VonTrapp in Arbor Opera Theater’s The Sound of Music, Anne Egerman and Mrs. Nordstrom (A Little Night Music), Sgt. Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls), Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Marcy Park (Spelling Bee), and Jo March (Little Women).

This season, in December 2019, Ms. Hansen will be performing with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as the Soprano Soloist in Handel's Messiah. Not long after, Jocelyn will be making her main-stage debut with The Dallas Opera in 2020.

In the summer of 2016, Jocelyn was a member of the Vocal Company at College Light Opera Company in Cape Cod, MA, where she was seen as Elsie Maynard (The Yeomen of the Guard), Diana Deveraux (Of Thee I Sing), and Babette (Disney's Beauty and the Beast). Jocelyn's operatic roles include Sister Constance (The Dialogues of the Carmelites), The Queen of the Night and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea), Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites)

In the summer of 2018, Jocelyn was a young artist with Des Moines Metro Opera , and in 2019 had the pleasure of performing with Ohio Lyric Opera.

In addition to the theater, Ms. Hansen has a vested interest in both early and new music repertoire, performing as a soloist with the Baroque Orchestra at the University of North Texas, and with Musique 21 at Michigan State University under the baton of Kevin Noe


 Jocelyn was also recognized as a national semifinalist in the NATS Musical Theater Competition (2014), the Classical Singer Competition- Musical Theatre Division (2015), and the American Traditions Competition in Savannah, GA (2016).

Jocelyn is an alumnus of Iowa State University, Michigan State University, University of North Texas and currently resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with her husband and Siberian Huskies, who loves to howl along with the music.
